Privacy Policy

StudySignal ("we", "us") is a practice tool for the SAT, PSAT, ACT, SSAT, HSPT, and ISEE that shows a green/yellow/red confidence signal on every question. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We aim to collect only what the product needs to work.
Information we collect
- Account — your email address (for magic-link sign-in), and, if you use Google Sign-In, the basic profile Google shares (name, email, account ID).
- Practice activity — the questions you answer, the answer you choose, your confidence signal (green/yellow/red), whether it was correct, and timestamps.
- Progress — derived study state such as which topics you've mastered, questions you've already seen, and your test selections, so practice adapts and doesn't repeat.
- Teacher features — if you're a teacher, the tests and rosters you create and the assignments you share; if you're a student taking an assigned test, your results are visible to the teacher who assigned it.
We do not knowingly collect more than the above, and we do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How we use it
- To sign you in and keep you signed in.
- To run and adapt your practice (the confidence signal, the mastery loop, and your results).
- To let teachers create tests and see the results of students they've assigned work to.
- To maintain, secure, and improve the service.
Cookies
We use a single essential, HttpOnly session cookie to keep you signed in. It is not used for advertising. We don't currently run third-party analytics or ad trackers.
How it's stored & who processes it
Your data is stored in our database (Supabase) and the app is hosted on Vercel. We rely on a small set of service providers to operate: Supabase (database/hosting), Vercel (hosting), Google (Sign-In, if you use it), and Resend (sending sign-in emails). We do not sell your personal information.
Students & minors
StudySignal is intended for test preparation, often by students. If you are below the age of consent in your jurisdiction, please use StudySignal with the involvement of a parent, guardian, or teacher. If you believe a child has provided us personal information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, or ask questions about this policy, by emailing us. We'll respond within a reasonable time.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. We'll revise the "last updated" date above when we do.
